The meeting was attended by the managers of both sections to participate in a specialized technical workshop. The workshop focused on core analysis mechanisms, where the latest technologies and certified standards were reviewed to ensure maximum efficiency and accuracy. The session also featured fruitful discussions aimed at exchanging practical expertise and strengthening the frameworks of technical cooperation between the two companies.

Spare parts for lathe machines

Petro-Baghdad successfully delivered a strategic procurement project to establish a reliable and efficient supply chain for high-quality lathe machine spare parts across the South Refineries Company. The primary objective was to minimize machine downtime, enhance maintenance efficiency, and support uninterrupted production operations. To achieve this, Petro-Baghdad leveraged its global supply network to identify and partner with Knuth Machine Tools (Germany) as a trusted manufacturer, ensuring the provision of genuine, high-quality components. Project Scope & Achievements: Project Outcome:By ensuring the consistent availability of accurate and durable spare parts, this project directly contributed to enhanced operational performance, reduced maintenance cycles, and an extended lifespan for the client’s lathe machinery. The initiative has successfully fortified the South Refineries Company’s operational reliability and maintenance capabilities.

Provision Of Wellsite Core Retrieval & Handling Services / Qayyarah Oilfield

Petro-Baghdad was successfully contracted by Sonangol P&P Iraq to execute comprehensive wellsite core retrieval, handling, and preservation services for the Hartha Wells in the Qaiyarah Oilfield, located near Mosul City, Iraq. The project was completed in the last quarter of 2025. The primary objective was to ensure the safe retrieval, preservation, and accurate documentation of long (9 m) conventional core barrels from the moment of surface retrieval through to preparation for transport. Our team maintained the core’s physical and petrophysical integrity throughout the entire process, guaranteeing its suitability for advanced laboratory analysis. Project Scope & Achievements:The scope involved handling core sections, each consisting of two core barrels with a maximum length of 18 meters. Petro-Baghdad successfully managed, described, and preserved: Services Executed:Our wellsite operations included: All procedures were conducted in strict adherence to industry best practices and specific client specifications to preserve geological textures and sample integrity. HSE & Quality Assurance:The project was executed with an unwavering commitment to Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE), achieving a perfect record of zero incidents throughout all operations.Project Outcome:The project efficiently met all client objectives. The retrieved cores were transferred to the designated storage facility in excellent condition, maintaining outstanding structural and physical quality. This successful operation ensures that the core material is fully suitable for subsequent Routine and Special Core Analysis (RCAL/SCAL), enabling high-resolution geological, petrophysical, and reservoir characterization studies.

Provision Of Majnoon Oil Filed Core Analysis Services /Basra, Iraq

Petro-Baghdad successfully delivered a comprehensive core analysis project involving approximately 800 meters of core samples collected from producer and appraisal wells across the carbonate and sandstone reservoirs of the Majnoon Oilfield. The scope of work included Core Handling and Preparation (CHP), Routine Core Analysis (RCAL), Special Core Analysis (SCAL), and Whole Core Analysis (WCAL), all conducted in company-approved laboratories to ensure the highest technical standards. [The SCAL and quality control were covered by our international partner (PanTerra Geoconsultants Company).] Over a two-year period, our team performed detailed analytical and preparatory services—utilizing advanced techniques such as Synthetic Formation Water (SFW), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), and X-Ray Diffraction (XRD)—to provide accurate reservoir characterization and support the client’s field development objectives. Every six months during the contract period, our company participated in joint performance reviews with the client to evaluate service quality, personnel competence, and overall project standards. These reviews included management presentations covering key aspects such as Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSS&E), timely delivery of results, operational performance, equipment reliability, adoption of new technologies, and implementation of agreed-upon procedures. During each review, Petro-Baghdad also submitted its updated Management Safety Policy using the client’s Safety Assessment framework to ensure continuous compliance and performance improvement.

Provision of Core Analysis And Associated Services / Halfaya Oilfield

Petro-Baghdad was successfully contracted to provide comprehensive core analysis and associated services for the Halfaya Oilfield. To support a more complete geological understanding of the field’s development reservoirs and potential formations, the project utilized a total of 1,700 meters of core samples extracted from various oil-bearing reservoirs, covering a depth interval from 1,850 to 5,600 meters. Our company delivered end-to-end core handling and analytical services for a significant portion of the project scope. This integrated service covered the entire workflow—from initial wellsite core reception and laboratory preparation through Routine Core Analysis (RCAL) and Special Core Analysis (SCAL) testing, to final preservation and compliant international shipment packaging. All phases were executed to ensure the highest technical standards and uncompromised sample integrity. The scope of work was implemented through the following key service lines: 1. Wellsite Services & Core ReceptionPetro-Baghdad managed comprehensive wellsite and warehouse operations within Iraq. This included the safe receiving, handling, systematic labeling, and preservation of full-diameter cores directly at the rig site. Cores were packaged according to stringent industry standards to maintain their structural and petrophysical integrity during transport. All operations were conducted under strict procedural controls with full documentation to guarantee a secure chain-of-custody. 2. Core Plug Preparation & Fluids for SCALOur team performed meticulous core preparation activities, including core slabbing, precision plug drilling, trimming, and orientation marking. For the Special Core Analysis (SCAL), special-condition brines and dead crude oils were prepared, filtered, degassed, and their density and viscosity were verified at elevated, reservoir-relevant temperatures. All samples were prepared with meticulous attention to preserving in-situ fluids and core integrity to ensure the accuracy of subsequent SCAL measurements. 3. Conventional (Routine) Core Analysis (RCAL)Routine Core Analysis was performed to determine fundamental petrophysical properties. This included the measurement of porosity, permeability, bulk density, grain density, and fluid saturation. All analyses were conducted under standard laboratory conditions to establish reliable rock property benchmarks essential for reservoir characterization and geological modeling. 4. Special Core Analysis (SCAL)Advanced SCAL tests were executed under simulated reservoir conditions. The extensive test portfolio included electrical properties (e.g., resistivity index, capillary pressure), relative permeability, displacement tests, wettability analysis, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR), and formation damage assessments. Complementary mechanical property testing and geochemical measurements were also conducted to provide detailed insights into reservoir flow behavior, fluid-rock interactions, and to enhance the accuracy of reservoir simulation models. 5. Preservation, Packing & International ShippingUpon completion of analysis, all core samples and plugs were preserved, labeled, vacuum-sealed, and packaged using certified materials (including foil, Saran wrap, and Core-seal) to maintain fluid and structural integrity during international transit. All necessary export documentation, including hazardous materials declarations, was meticulously completed to ensure fully compliant and secure shipment in accordance with international regulations.
